Component Traceability and Compliance

Posted on: 2026/05/13

The reliability of a photovoltaic module starts at the manufacturing stage. Even before performance testing begins, every component undergoes rigorous verification to ensure compliance, traceability, and consistency with materials approved by internationally recognized certification bodies.

This article introduces our quality control series at SYNAPSUN, developed in collaboration with Sinovoltaics.

In our next article, we will focus on pre-shipment inspections and testing procedures, a key step to verify module integrity and performance before factory dispatch.

Full Traceability from Manufacturing

First, every photovoltaic module is assigned a unique identifier to ensure full traceability throughout the entire supply chain.

SINOVOLTAIC'S inspections notably include:

  • Serial number verification
  • Product label inspection
  • Cross-checking between physical markings and documentation

The objective is to guarantee complete traceability, from factory production to on-site installation.

Cross-Checking with BOM and CDF

Component compliance is verified using two key reference documents:

  • BOM (Bill of Materials): complete list of materials used in module manufacturing
  • CDF (Constructional Data Form): document certifying approved material combinations and the module’s technical configuration

Cross-checking inspected modules against the BOM and CDF ensures that all components including cells, glass, encapsulants, connectors, and frames, match the materials approved during the certification process.

This verification prevents any unauthorized replacement or modification and ensures compliance with specifications certified by international organizations.

Certified and Proven Materials

All integrated materials are validated according to international standards by independent certification bodies such as TÜV Rheinland. This certification guarantees:

  • Compliance with international standards
  • The use of reliable and proven components
  • Long-term module durability and performance

Documented Monitoring of Non-Conformities and Corrective Actions

Whenever a deviation or non-conformity is detected, each issue is recorded, documented, and monitored until corrective action is completed.

This documented traceability provides a complete history of identified defects and corrective measures implemented before final validation.

Similar to a maintenance record in the automotive industry, every module benefits from detailed quality history tracking from the very beginning of the manufacturing process, ensuring complete traceability and rigorous quality control at every stage.

As part of the PAQS framework, SYNAPSUN guarantees that no product is shipped if the material used in the module is not listed in the CDF.
